Undergraduate Internship

The CBT/DBT Center invites applicants for a virtual internship position for Winter-Summer 2025 with a start date of January 1, 2025 and end date of July 31, 2025, with an option to continue beyond that if mutually desired. This is a great opportunity for an undergraduate psychology student with an interest in pursuing graduate studies in a mental health field. The position requires 10 hours/week commitment.

The Role – Undergraduate Intern

Responsibilities

  • Clinical training opportunities

    • Participate in our weekly DBT consultation team

    • Participate in at least one course based on availability​

    • Attend didactics and case presentations

  • Weekly supervision with a psychologist or psychology fellow to review clinical learning and school/career mentorship

    • Build your resume (CV)

    • Get support with graduate school applications

    • Plan experiences to build a competitive graduate school application

  • Publish weekly blog posts (or create other content for social media) onto The CBT/DBT Center website based on learning during the week

  • Complete weekly task assignments that vary from week to week (e.g. writing a mindfulness column, transcribing recordings, creating handouts, managing q&a on webinars, etc.)

 

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Setting

Required training day is Monday. Thursday is suggested. Other hours/days are flexible.

 

Hours Breakdown

  • DBT Team Meeting - 1.5 hrs

  • Supervision - 1 hr

  • Group/course - 1.5 hrs

  • Blog or other social content - 2 hr

  • Mindfulness column - 1 hr

  • Didactics - 45 min

  • Rotating Meetings (Case presentations/q&a/rounds/admin) - 45 min

 

 

Goals for Internship:

  • Build skills for collaborating as a full participant of a clinical team

  • Gain foundational clinical skills within a CBT and DBT framework

  • Learn how to utilize supervision and maximize the time to grow professionally

  • Strengthen writing skills (formal and informal)
