Internship
The CBT/DBT Center invites applicants for a Masters-level internship beginning Summer or Fall 2025. The CBT/DBT Center is an evidence-based group practice founded by Dr. Chaya Lieba Kobernick and is comprised of a group of highly skilled clinicians specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, with a special focus on serving the Orthodox Jewish community.

This internship program is designed for advanced graduate students or recent graduates of Masters-level clinical programs. This is a minimum 12-month internship position with an option to apply for hire post internship. The program is run by our Clinical Training Director, Dr. Sarah Green. Training will focus on treatment with children, adolescents, adults, and their families using evidence-based treatments for anxiety disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, and trauma-related disorders. Interns will be trained and supervised in CBT and DBT-informed treatment. Interns have the choice of also receiving training in comprehensive DBT. Treatments provided include CBT for anxiety and depression, Exposure and Response Prevention, CBT for insomnia, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, DBT (for adults, adolescents, and children), DBT PE, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure. The internship offers the option of a hybrid model, consisting of in-person work in our Queens, NY office or our Jerusalem, Israel office and virtual work as well.

Clinical and Didactic Experiences:​

Evidence-based treatments: Clients and families will be treated using evidence-based interventions including CBT, ExRP, MBCT, ACT, DBT, CPT, and PE. Training in these interventions will be provided.

Individual and family psychotherapy: Interns will be the primary therapist for cases, including individual therapy, family sessions, and parent training.

Group Therapy: Interns will receive training in and will co-lead weekly groups or workshops (DBT Skills Group, ACT-based course, DBT Workshop for Family and Friends, Mindful Mondays).

Supervision: Interns will receive one hour of individual supervision per week and one hour of group supervision per week. Supervision will be remote/virtual. Interns will also participate in a DBT Skills Group for Therapists led by Dr. Kobernick with a case consultation component and DBT Consultation Team.

Case Presentations: Interns will join our monthly case presentations and will have the opportunity to prepare and present a case of their own.

Didactics: Weekly didactics are provided throughout the year by advanced clinicians. Interns will also be able to join more intensive trainings offered at the center.

Presentations: Interns may assist in professional and/or community presentations. Interns may also have the opportunity to participate in research and conference presentations. Together we decide what role interns take, depending on the individual intern's level of experience and comfort in that subject area.

Writing: All trainees have the opportunity to contribute articles and/or other types of content relevant to our client population.
