Clinical Psychology Extern

Tamar Liberman is a clinical psychology extern at The CBT/DBT Center and a third-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She earned her undergraduate degree from Barnard College of Columbia University and went on to complete a master’s degree at Fordham University, where she focused her thesis on female body image.


Before beginning her clinical training, Tamar spent five years as an essay specialist and counselor, working with students across the globe. Through this work, she supported clients in navigating mental health challenges and discovering personal meaning in their experiences, which inspired her to pursue a career in clinical psychology.


Tamar has since gained experience working with individuals of all ages, addressing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, and interpersonal difficulties. Her current research explores how mindfulness practices and the cultivation of character strengths can help reduce depressive symptoms and enhance quality of life.


Tamar approaches to therapy reflects her deep interest in positive psychology, emphasizing overall wellbeing alongside symptom reduction. She is committed to using evidence-based methods delivered with creativity, curiosity, and compassion, recognizing the complexity of each client beyond their diagnostic labels.
